Inbal Sigler comes from Israel. She used to be a dancer. Since a few years she has been teaching Yoga and HypnoBirthing to pregnant women in her practice in the Pijp in Amsterdam. Just after the picture was taken, Inbal gave birth to her second child. We spoke to her two weeks after. “When I talk about birth, I would take the word ‘pain’ out. Pain does not have to be an integral part of birth. I’d rather see it as a powerful experience, a pleasant one. My second son’s name is Asa. Just like my eldest son, Adam, he was born while I practiced the HypnoBirthing techniques and mindset . It was a great birth that felt very natural. HypnoBirthing addresses the mind and the body. The practicality of it, the knowledge parents gain on the birthing process and the positive mindset being cultivated, all these give women the possibility to create or influence the birth as they wish, also in the hospital. I have always worked as a dancer, modern dance was my field, and I performed in several European countries. Six years ago I went to Amsterdam. Everything fell into place here: I met my partner, started my Yoga studio and here I got pregnant. My midwife introduced HypnoBirthing to me. My first child was not even 4 months, when I gave my first course. I started in our living room. Quickly the demand for more courses grew and now I have my own studio where I teach HypnoBirthing. My company is called Isis Hypnobirthing. There was a moment when i thought about it to change the name, but I kept it: the name Isis, the Egyptian Goddess, stands for birth and motherhood”.
